January Wrap-Up

I hope everyone's been enjoying Sombulus Act 12 so far! I am BACK to posting two pages a week on the site, which feels very exciting to say after the end of last year. That said, I'm skipping the last update of the month and using it to post wrap-ups about what I'm up to! This will hopefully give me a few small planned breaks along the way, so I don't have to take a big unplanned one later, and give y'all something to check out too!

The full wrap-up post is over here, but here's an excerpt about the sketcbook image above:
Our scene in January started with a flashback into Argus's past when he was first learning the ropes of becoming an avatar (and when he got his face scar). The mental health needs of avatars are (sort of) cared for by Kanite society, but this chapter is going to be showing a lot of places where they've failed, and are sometimes just a poor bandaid for deeper problems. The "therapy dog" angle with the unidoggon was a nice way to bring this concept together with Liesel's animal handling specialty and the unexplained scar on Argus's face.

I had some other sketches for panels where Tenge found the blood-stained book and it set Argus off, but ultimately pulled them to focus on orienting Liesel in the present day and getting the reader back into the story after the break.
I hope you enjoy these peeks behind the scenes! We'll be back with the next page of Sombulus next week.
